Primal: Is It Any Good? Should I Follow It? What Is It Exactly?

You're walking through the dense jungle, leaving your cave or home you had built. In one hand, a spear the other, is bare. As you are walking barefoot across sticks and leaves, you don't think twice, this is your nature. You've walked these forests a thousand times. You are crawling over rocks, climbing branches as about 100 yards away, you spot a wild boar. So instinctively you drop down slowly crawling, keeping your eyes fixed on it. You get close enough, and slowly rise, not to alarm it. As you cock back, you throw your spear, just right catching it in the heart. Instantly killing it. as you hoist it up on your shoulder you find a stick, and sharpen it as you arrive back at your home, putting it over the fire to slow cook all day. As you go out, foraging for nuts, and other vegetables or the occasional fruit you can find. As you find nothing else. Today was a lucky day, you actually get some meat to help keep you going through the rigorous daily activities you have to do, in order to live and survive.

That's exactly how we lived, tens of thousands of years ago. There were no, Walmart, or big grocery stores to go shop at. There was no, frozen pizza, chicken nuggets, french fries, hell no friend, breaded, potato. corn. anything grain like. It was meat, when you could get it. And all the vegetables you could gather. You didn't get the luxury to go and buy it in abundance only to let it all waste. There was no ice cream and brownies for you "cheat meal" or "cheat day". The food you ate back then was to survive, to nourish your body. To keep it able to keep up with your necessary daily activity. You walked, daily. You crawled, and jumped. Sprinted when being chased on occasions. You climbed, and lifted heavy things. Hoisted animal carcasses. You threw spears, stabbed spears. Sharpened sticks. And there was no down time. Not even to blog like I am right now. You were always busy.

I guess that is what we have "evolved" into. The "I want it now, it's easy to get and than I will let it waste because that health thing was only a fling". So we go back to our unhealthy grains, and we go back to our unhealthy foods. We get those frozen pizzas and those corn dogs, and such. And we stuff them into our bodies, getting the little amount of protein they offer. And hardly nourishing our bodies, and actually doing the opposite. Killing ourselves, slowly and surely. Getting a number of diseases, that weren't around 100,000 years ago. Because the food additives just did not exist. They were not even thought of.

What does it mean to eat, live and be primal? Well, after I found the blog called "Marks Daily Apple" I decided to start adapting to living a primal life. Mark Sisson, is the one who created the "primal blueprint".
Being primal, means living the way our ancestors did thousands of years ago.
  Being primal means:
-Eating good foods, animals, good fats, plants and the occasional fruit.
-Low carb, your only carbs should come from plant sources.
-High fat, good fats such as avocado, coconut, olive oil, etc.
-Moderate protein.
-Walk daily.
-Lift heavy things.
-Stay active.
-Play (doing socially fun things or things you enjoy)
-Minimal stress.
-Get a good amount of sleep.

That pretty much outlines the basics of living a primal lifestyle.
No more being a couch potato. (speaking of potatoes, they are bad. They aren't included in the primal lifestyle. Unless it is an occasional sweet potato)
Now, that isn't saying you cannot watch TV. Just, don't revolve your life around it.
Just stay busy, stay active.
Walk around, do movements that mimic the lifestyle back then.
Crawl, hop, jump, walk, sprint on an occasion, lift heavy things, compound movements. Just do the opposite of all you have been taught.
Carbs are bad. Potatoes, grains, corn, all of it. 99% of what the modern diet consists of. Is bad for you. And is killing everyone slowly.
And they have those fancy commercials, "if you're hungry, grab a snickers"
Oh, grab that snickers. Satisfy your hunger, for 10 seconds. Until you want another, and another. Of those empty calorie heart disease bars. All I see when I look at the candy section:
-cancer.
-heart disease.
-diabetes.
-obesity.
-tooth decay.
-death.

Because eating a diet, consistent of all that, is a surefire way to be put on prescription medication, that causes more problems than it fixes.

To live the primal life, is to live the life that was lived for hundreds of thousands of years. Before artificial anything was around.
Now am I implying to go out and hunt for food everyday? To ask that of most people is, asinine. Quite frankly, not a lot of people CAN do that. But, what I am suggesting, is to go out and buy GRASS fed animals. ORGANIC fruits and vegetables. To buy GRASS fed everything. To supplement where you lack, with ORGANIC products. And to use healthier alternatives. Because, they're out there.

The argument I always use is, would you rather pay $1.00 extra for the grass fed beef a pound. Or be charged $100.00 monthly for medication, and a hospital bill from your cancer treatments.
Because, it's not a matter of IF anymore, it's a matter of WHEN. If you eat a diet, like the modern american.

I will get more in depth, on the dangers of grains. On the benefits of walking daily, and other aspects of the primal lifestyle.

That's it for today guys and gals.

Stay healthy, stay strong, stay grain free, Stay primal.
Until a future time,
Corey.

Diseases, Can You Cure or Even Prevent Them?

We all ask the same question. "I have, such and such disease. What can I do?" It'san age old question, "I hate the side effects of my medicines, but I NEED THEM" No, let me stop you right there, you don't. You can change, prevent and even cure some if not all diseases.
Some of you are sitting there, saying "well that cannot be, my doctor gave me this pills for a reason". The reasoning, is Big Pharma, and the prescription agenda. They make more money, off of people who have diseases that are easibly curable with diet change and supplementation of natural resources. But, they push these expensive and unnecessary medications, with a side effect list that is worse than what they are claiming to cure. My hnest opinion, they mask the underlying causes of diseases, poor nutrition and vitamin deficiences.

These few items, can help you, with curing cancer. Yes CURING cancer. Preventing cancer, and a host of other diseases, including but not limited to:
-Alzheimer's
-Cancer
-IBS
-Heart disease
-Liver disease
-Dementia
-Cardiovascular disease
-Asthma
-Vascular diseases
-Hair loss
-Tooth decay
-Tumors(shrinking them)
The list goes on and on. The number of diseases has grown to such a magnitude, since the early ages of man. They never knew diseases as of which we now know, The worst, was the bubonic plague. And even then, they used natural remedies to cure them.
A lifestyle change is inevitible when faced with a life altaring or liffe threatening disease. More vegetalbles, more fruits, more meat, less starchy carbs.

These are the best natural ingredients to use, that can help rid your body of all sorts of toxins:
1.Apple cider vinegar.
Apple cider vinegar has been used for the longest time as a natural remedy for acid reflux and a host of other stomach related problems
2. Honey.
Honey, can be used for a number of things. From a natural allergy suppressant. To some quick energy. And, helping ward off pesky acne. It is a very versatile product.
3. Raw Coca powder(unsweetened).
This, is a natural antioxadent that has more power than a cup of green tea. It was used along side green chillies(fresh), and vanilla. To make the first ever hot chocolate.
4. Coconut(oil).
This, is the meca of all products. Curing and stopping cancer cells and tumors. Tooth health. Intestine health. Gut health. Hair and skin health. Brain clairty. You name it. Coconut can be used for it. The best part, is the coconut oil. But, coconut(raw), coconut milk and water are all great to use. This is a cure all, and a must in an everyday diet.
Lastly, I will talk about a controversial product, Hemp Oil.
The oil from the marijuana plant, has been shown to fight and stop cancer growth. And also help individuals be healthy. It is a highly controversial product, because of the recreational use of cannibis(which I don't frown upon). But, the oil, has a low THC count. And, can be used to help stop cancer.
There are many other products that can be used by the body, to help fight and ward off diseases. Also help prevent them.
Cayanne pepper.
Garlic.
Ginger.
Cinnamon.
Collagen.
Turmic.
The list goes on.
Inflamation, acne, poor circulation, obesity, etc.
These are all things a simple tweak or two of your diet can change.
Let me give you a start, to cleansing your system. Kevin James used this, to lose his weight.
I heard this on a Joe Rogan podcast(highly recoment listening/watching)
Drink one shake every morning:
Kale(one bundle)
Celery(2-4 stalks)
! Pear
1 cucumber
1 piece(about 2inches) of gigner root(fresh)
Make sure all ingredients are washed and fresh, no frozen, and no GMO.
Blend together(no wader needed)
And if you really want a kick, add a spoon full of chia seeds and or hemp seeds.
That shake will cleanse your body and get you on your road to fat loss.
So in closing, I recomend everyone follow a diet high in vegetables and fruits, use vitamins and supplements when needed. Use spices(organic) as much as wanted.
Moderate protein.
NO GRAINS, NO STARCHY CARBS.
Basically, any potato product is eliminated. No corn (yes, again it is a grain)
Get active. Get moving.
And stay healthy,
Until next time,
Corey.

Tomorrow, we will go over fitness, the do's and don't(s). And where most people make
their mistakes.

The Basics: Calories, Carbs, Fats & Proteins.

As you sit there, you find yourself wanting to lose weight. More so, lose fat. You've tried everything. Every weightloss and fatloss pill known to man. The atkins diet, every diet you've heard of. You even went as far as to making yourself not eat for weeks at a time, because, well let's face it. No food=No Fat, right?
Nothing could be further from the truth. Your body needs a certain amount of calories to survive.
Now, that isn't saying that fasting, isn't useful. Even Intermittent Fasting, (fasting for certain hours/eating for certain said hours).
We will touch on that in a different post.

Today I want to highlight the basics:

-Calories
-Fats
-Carbohydrates
-Proteins

These are all key factors in determining your body composition, and exactly how your body functions.
Now, just a disclaimer. I take a different approach to this than most. Because I have different beliefs, the research is all there. Most call this "low carb" Some call it "paleo dieting" It is simply known as, going primal. Being in touch with your primal instincts and primal ancestors.

With that being said, here is how I break it down.

So, protein is a major role. It helps build muscle, and regulate your body. Helps you recover and get stronger. It released the anabolic hormones inside your body. Protein is the key to either fat loss or muscle gains.
Our ancestors ate a lot of protein, but also they ate it when they could get it. Sometimes days at a time without a bite. We of course, go to the stores and buy frozen packaged meats. That are so pumped with chemicals, it is hardly meat anymore. Our ancestors, of course hunted for their food daily. That is how they stayed active. It was either, hunt or be hunted. Needless to say, when they got meat they gorged. Protein is one of the building blocks of a nutritious and healthy life.

You want to get grass fed meats, such as: Beef, Chicken, Pork, Lamb, Bison, Venison, etc. Turkey too, but fatty meat is where you should look, I will explain why later.
You don't want too much protein, but don't want too little. I usually have a big helping of meat, and some nuts and what not. It usually gives me enough protein to sustain my body. You don't exactly NEED 300 grams of protein, save that for the ones injecting the steroids (not saying I am against that).
Your body will do just fine with 100-150 grams.

Now fats, well fats are essential for life. Good fats and bad fats. You want quality fats, animal fats. Or fats like coconut oil, and olive oil, or advacadoes, anything but processed junk. The fats you get from a box of food, has no nutritional values. Anything packaged and riddled with chemicals, and preservatives is simply, not food anymore it is so altered. Buy whole foods. "organic foods"

I quote that term, because it aggravates me.
"organic" like it is suppose to be different.
"organic food" is what our parents and parents parents and those before them called, real food.
Just food. That is what they ate daily. Because, the chemicals just weren't there.
Look for grass fed "organic". They must put a label on the shit that is good for you. So look for those labels, is it a little more? Sure, but cancer is expensive too. So is heart disease, diabetes, and multiple medications from multiple doctors.
What path do you want? choose wisely. Because you only get this one life.
Anyways, back on topic.

Carbohydrates:
Ah, these things are tricky. We have simple and complex carbs. Some that are fast and some that are slow.
They all turn to glucose in the blood and the body. Yet, the type, depends on how your body reacts.
If you eat, a whole bowl of potatoes and some sugar cookies. Sure you'll get the same amount of carbs as say, two or three bags of broccoli. But, broccoli effects the body in a different way. Not only does it have a whole host of other nutrients, your body can absorb the carbs better. The potatoes and cookies(which are riddled with additives and chemicals) will turn to glucose, or sugar faster. Not to mention those pesky grains, (there they are again)
Those things, that man ate for, tens of thousands of years before us. And, they were healthy. They lived, virtually disease free.

These things (grains) lead to so many problems,
digestive problems, stomach problems, they're hard on our bodies. On our organs, and on our  brains (yes, they fog our brains).
Plus, they leave you hungry for more.
Try and eat a whole meal loaded with carbs,
fried chicken, mashed potatoes, corn (yes, corn is a grain, funny right?), and some pie for desert (I quite enjoy some apple pie though, well use to)
And tell me, if you aren't hungry an hour or so later, if not sooner. (go on, report back to me, if you aren't.. congratulations) most people will keep scarfing their faces till they almost puke.
Candy, chips, bread, corn, potatoes, pre packaged meals, breaded foods, friend foods.
They all are haphazardly eaten and thrown into the mouths of people. They don't see the negative effects until it's too late.

You could eat a whole bag of candy and still be hungry, They are empty calories.
Sugar and carbs. They do nothing for your body, when you shovel in a three musketeers, or a milky way. Why do you think they have the chips and candy at every register?
It's a marketing ploy to sell more, "oh I will get a quick snack for the road" You eat it and 15 minutes later, you're hungry.
AND WORSE OFF, they actually advertise some on the tv, (not saying names *cough* Snickers *cough*) As curbing your hunger. It's asinine.

Okay, Rant over.
As I was saying, Grains= BAD, avoid them.
Eat a diet rich in  animal fat and protein, nuts, fruit and berries (sparingly) lots of veggies (green is best) but a variety of colored veggies is key.
Drink plenty of water (but don't over drink, just when you're thirsty) and just keep active.

Calories: before I forget, a calorie isn't just a calorie.
They effect the body differently, 100 calories of spinach, will greatly be treated differently by the body than 100 calories of bread or of those "100 calorie snacks"
It's all marketing.

Speaking of marketing, tune in tomorrow, Where I pick apart the supplement companies. Bit by bit.
